Here are a few books that I truly love! I just read the first and I am just finishing the second. I promise they will captivate you!
Nicholas Spark's Safe Haven
This Book is amazing from the first page! It's about a young woman with an abusive husband and her battle to gain the courage and strength to save her own life by escaping. While this sounds like a downer book it's actually so full of hope and love and is truly inspiring. There are so many twists and it really does keep you on the edge of your seat. I couldn't put it down.
Ann Brashares' The Crowning Glory of Calla Lily Ponder
This book is so good! It's kind of a coming of age story. It's about a young Calla Lily Ponder and her life in the little town or La Luna Louisiana. She faces loss and heartbreak and finds the courage to start her own journey as a young woman with healing hands being a beautician. It will definitely make you cry but it will also make you laugh and keep wanting to know what's next for Calla Lily.

Sorry it's been so long since my last post. I wanted to do another, hopefully, helpful post so I wanted to share with you the books that helped me so much with parenting. I would have to say they are definetly must reads for any new mom out there.
#1. What to Expect when you are expecting by Heidi Murkoff. This book is actually I'd have to day the most popular parenting book out there and there is a reason for that. It does a great job of preparing you for what is ahead when you are pregnant and when you have your baby. It is great for answering questions that both moms and dads have.
#2 Child of Mine by Ellyn Satter. I absolutely love this book and it helped me so much. It really helps you to have grace when going through the feeding process. It is a great guide for nutrition, feeding, child development, and parenting. There are personal stories that are really helpful and it really helps to make eating and feeding a positive experience for kids and parents. It goes from newborn and breast feeding and formula feeding all the way to age 5. I highly recommend this book because it will definitely give you a different perspective on feeding your child and make it a fun experience instead of a stressful one.
#3 Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child by Marc Weissbluth. This book was truly the most helpful thing for us. we were always trying to find the best way to sleep train Troy but everything kept falling short. We wanted to try the techniques that avoided crying it out first but none of them worked for us and we were getting so frustrated. When this book was introduced to us life changed. We actually found out what sleep was. This book goes from the first month all the way to adolescence. While it does support the cry it out method, it is very gentle and the children really do sleep and each step provides a foundation for the years to come. It is a permanent solution.
I am so excited for Easter this year! I love Easter as it is but now Troy (my son) gets to participate in all the easter egg hunts and morning easter basket. I am so excited to make this a special tradition for him and for our whole family. I can't wait to teach him that while bunnies and easter eggs are super fun there is also a deeper meaning to the holiday.
I want to start incorporating not only church into the day but also bits and pieces of the true meaning of Easter. That Jesus rose from the dead! I am going to keep you all posted on what I come up with and maybe we can all start teaching our kids more about this day.
Here is a picture of my first attempt at highlighting my hair.
So as most of you know I am actually going back to being blonde. I've been trying to lighten my hair slowly and naturally and wait for it to grow out but let's be honest this is taking forever.
I had a very impulsive day today is all I'm going to say and hairstylists around the world are going to yell at me.
For now I am going to post an original picture of my hair and I will continue to post pictures in steps along the way. My crazy plan is to go back to my natural blonde on my own without totally destroying my hair or having to chop it off into a pixie cut. Maybe this will either encourage you to do it on your own or encourage you NOT to do it on your own. I guess we will see how it all turns out.
Wish me luck!!
I was thinking about all the things that we as parents need when we bring a new member of the family home. We never have enough diapers, wipes, or naps but we seem to accumulate tons of other stuff. We are on this journey and I think no matter how many times we do it we are always trying to find the next best thing for our babies and ourselves. So I wanted to share with you all my personal top three products.
When I was thinking about this I didn't really even have to give it a lot of thought. The three products came into my head instantly. The third product I actually just learned about from my amazing sister in law.
#1. My number one product is definitely Lanolin nipple cream. Hands down this is the most amazing product out there. I want to say life saving. My sister told me about this before I had my son so I had very little suffering when breast feeding but I have ran across so many new moms who have never even heard of this miracle cream. Let me just tell you ladies, this will make nursing actually enjoyable, where you can actually enjoy the bond you are sharing with your baby. And the best part is it's completely safe for the baby so you never have to wipe it off, actually you aren't supposed to wipe it off, and you can just keep putting it on
.
#2. I'd have to give the number two spot to the Baby Einstein videos. I used these videos for my own sanity. When you have a new baby sleep isn't really something you get to participate in that often so I took full advantage of naps. I would put a Baby Einstein video in and just like that Troy (my son) would be glued. Now I know there are people who would consider this "babysitting my son" but he was an infant strapped into a soothing center, not going anywhere and he would almost always fall asleep with the videos and in doing this I would be able to sneak in an hour or two a day of naps for myself.
#3. Lastly, my son has had really bad eczema ever since he was really tiny. I would try everything out there and either they wouldn't do anything or he would have an allergic reaction to them. I got the Aveno Eczema cream and it worked great until my poor little guy broke out in hives. Just recently my sister in law told me about Glaxal Base Cream. It's a completely hypoallergenic cream that works wonders on really dry skin and eczema. I couldn't be more thankful and happy to see my baby not scratching at his skin all the time.
So I found an old entertainment center on kijiji for free and we are picking it up tomorrow. I am going to turn it into the laundry center that I showed below. I am so excited! Here is the before picture.
Still on my search for some old furniture to refinish. I don't want to buy any cuz I want to make this project a total redu. Old furniture that is falling apart. lol. Right now I am looking for an old entertainment center or a certain kind of desk that I have in mind. Wish me luck. :)
I've been really wanting to start running but I hate running alone so I thought why not start my training with my first race. It's a short 2.5k in Terwillegar and it's for a good cause. "Run or walk so kids can play". I'm excited I just hope I can get my Chris to do it with me. I'm excited!
So I am looking to make a little money on the side for my family and thought maybe starting a cleaning and organizing company would be a good idea.
I'm a stay at home mom so I have tons of experience with cleaning, and finding efficient ways of organizing a home to optimize space. I am looking for clients to start me on this little journey so if you or anyone you know would be interested please send me an email.
